Predicted to premiere on June 25, Fast & Furious 9 will feature a plane that is well known to Brazilians. The Embraer KC-390 Millennium can be seen in trailers released by Universal today (14).
The multi-mission military freighter appears at the end of the trailer, carrying one of the driver group's vehicles (which apparently get weirder with each new release in the series). Check it out below, from 3:05.
The freighter appears to be used as a sort of mothership/launch vehicle for what appears to be a "Fast" rocket.
This is the first time that the KC-390, Embraer's newest military aircraft and the largest military aircraft ever designed and manufactured in South America, appears in a film. However, the EMB-110 Bandeirante was already in a scene of one of the films in the Batman series.
It is also not the first time that a large plane participates in a film of the street racing saga. In Fast & Furious 6, the Antonov An-124 was present.
The KC-390 Millennium is in service with the Brazilian Air Force in the Zeus Squadron, headquartered in Ala 2 (Anápolis), and has already been acquired by Portugal and Hungary, who bought five and two units, respectively.
The aircraft recently completed certification to be refueled in flight, in addition to being frequently used in the oxygen transport and other medical supplies for the care of COVID-19 patients.
