L3Harris announced yesterday (8) that it has been selected by the Japanese flag carrier All Nippon Airways to train its next generation of pilots.
The agreement builds on a pilot simulation and training relationship between L3Harris and one of ANA's subsidiaries, Peach Aviation. That training relationship will now expand as L3Harris will provide pilot training for All Nippon Airways and its group airlines.
"This agreement demonstrates the confidence ANA has in the quality of L3Harris' training capabilities.”, said David Coward, vice president and general manager of the Airline Academy, L3Harris. “The ANA Group already entrusts us with the training of its pilots for Peach Aviation and now we have an even more important role in preparing pilots for its main carrier. "
Beginning in March 2023, the initial cohort of All Nippon Airways students will participate in single-engine and multi-engine flight training in England before returning to Japan to complete the Japanese Civil Aviation Bureau license. Pilot training will be carried out with the Diamond DA42.
"L3Harris has a history of producing highly proven future pilots”, said Takeshi Yamagishi, Vice President of Quality Planning at ANA's Flight Operations Center. “By using their quality locations and training facilities, we can ensure we are well prepared for future growth.”, concluded the executive.
All Nippon Airways is among the world's top 15 airlines by annual revenue. L3Harris has provided All Nippon Airways with flight training devices since the 1980s, with the first pilot training agreements signed in 2018.
