Two last A-29 Super Tucanos from the Philippines arrive in the country

The last two Philippine Air Force A-29s arrived in the country on the afternoon of Thursday, October 1st. The Super Tucanos landed at Clark Air Force Base on Luzon Island in the Philippines.

“The two remaining Super Tucanos arrived yesterday (Thursday). The first aircraft landed at 1304H (13:04) and followed by the other at 1327H (13)”quoted the Department of National Defense (DND) spokesman Arsenio Andolong, Philippine News Agency (PNA).

In total, the Philippines purchased six Embraer A-29 Super Tucanos, which were transported from São Paulo to the Philippines. Among the stopover countries, the A-29 ed through the Canary Islands, Portugal, Malta, Egypt, Bangladesh, United Arab Emirates, India, Thailand and Vietnam before reaching its final destination. 

The first four aircraft arrived in the country on September 19 and were flown by Embraer pilots.

The Super Tucanos will replace the North American Rockwell OV-10 “Bronco” attack aircraft in light attack missions, something that is one of the biggest highlights of Embraer aircraft.
