LATAM announces this Monday (21/8) with the Government of Amazonas new investments in its operation in Manaus. In the coming days, the company will start selling airline tickets for the new direct flight Manaus-Rio de Janeiro/Galeão and for more flights on the Manaus-Belém route. In addition, they are already on sale in latam.com and other sales channels for airline tickets for more flights on the Manaus-São Paulo/Guarulhos route.
In the cargo market, LATAM Cargo increases the number of weekly frequencies from 13 to 16 on the Guarulhos-Manaus, Manaus-Guarulhos and Viracopos-Manaus routes, and from 2 to 4 weekly frequencies on the Miami-Manaus international import route. The official announcement was made this afternoon at the Government Headquarters of the State of Amazonas and was attended by LATAM executives and authorities such as Tadeu de Souza (vice-governor of the State of Amazonas) and Ian Ribeiro (president of Amazonastur).
Currently, LATAM operates 43 regular flights per week between Manaus and the airports of São Paulo/Guarulhos (3 daily flights), Brasília (2 daily flights), Fortaleza (1 daily flight) and Belém (1 weekly flight). Throughout the first half of 2023, the company led the domestic enger market in Manaus with a 44,5% share (measured in RPK¹), according to ANAC (National Civil Aviation Agency), and was responsible for 36% of the market of air cargo from the capital of Amazonas with the transport of more than 20 thousand tons between Eduardo Gomes International Airport and the domestic and international markets.
LATAM'S INVESTMENTS IN AMAZONAS
As of October 29 of this year, LATAM will increase its offer on the Belém-Manaus route – in addition to the flight on Sundays, the route will gain a flight on Saturdays. With an average duration of 2h05, the flight operated by Airbus A321 aircraft (capacity for 8 engers in Economy cabin and 208 in Economy) will take off from Manaus at 13:05 pm (local time) and in the opposite direction at 17:05 pm (local time). On Sundays, it will remain with departures from the capital of Amazonas at 11:55 am (local time) and from Belém at 15:45 pm (local time).
Furthermore, on the same date, LATAM will increase its operation on the Manaus-Guarulhos route from 3 to 4 daily flights. The flight takes an average of 3h55 and is operated on Airbus A320 aircraft (capacity for 8 engers in Economy cabin and 168 in Economy) or Airbus A321 (capacity for 8 engers in Economy cabin and 208 in Economy).
The new Manaus-Galeão flight, scheduled for January 2, 2024, will have two weekly frequencies on Airbus A319 aircraft (capacity for 12 engers in Economy cabin and 126 in Economy), Airbus A320 (capacity for 8 engers in cabin Economy and 168 in Economy) or Airbus A321 (capacity for 8 engers in Economy cabin and 208 in Economy). With an average duration of 4 hours, it will take off from the capital of Amazonas every Tuesday and Saturday at 23:40 pm (local time) and every Wednesday and Sunday at 0:05 am (local time) from the Marvelous City.
In May of this year, it is worth ing that LATAM announced the expansion of its codeshare agreement with Voe, and Amazonas is one of the states most benefited from this investment. Now, in addition to offering latam.com tickets for Voe flights in Carauari (AM), Coari (AM), Manicoré (AM) and São Paulo de Olivença (AM), LATAM can also offer tickets to Tefé (AM) and Santa Isabel do Rio Negro (AM), in addition to Barcelos (AM) to fly from September 1st.
GROWTH OF THE CARGO OPERATION IN THE STATE
LATAM Cargo, the cargo transport company of the LATAM group, announces the expansion of its cargo routes in the Amazon. In the domestic market, the operation of the cargo routes Guarulhos-Manaus (13 weekly flights), Manaus-Guarulhos (16 weekly flights) and Viracopos-Manaus (8 weekly flight) is increased from 7 to 1 weekly flights. Internationally, it expands from 2 to 4 weekly frequencies the operation of the Miami-Manaus route, dedicated to the importation of cargo. All flights are operated by Boeing 767F cargo aircraft.
In Manaus, it is worth ing that LATAM Cargo plays a fundamental role in the export of products from the region. The company currently s for 36% of the air cargo market in the capital of Amazonas on domestic and international flights, according to ANAC. This year alone, more than 20 tons of cargo have been handled by LATAM in the Amazon, both on domestic and international flights.
The loads sent to Manaus are composed of commodities that feed the industry of the Free Zone (parts, machinery, silver steel ingots, etc.); frozen and fresh perishable foods (lettuce, strawberries, broccoli and fish); textiles (fabrics, shoes and clothing), as well as eggs and chicks.
Cargo departing from Manaus consists of products produced with its own inputs that, many times, LATAM Cargo itself transported to Manaus, such as electronics (cell phones, watches, etc.); batteries; medicines and ready-made parts for machinery.
