LATAM starts operating the Curitiba-Santiago route today (1st/11), with an average occupancy rate of 80% expected for the first flights. The new option will reduce travel time by 3 hours compared to connecting flights.
The company's first international operation in the capital of Paraná is also its third Brazil-Chile route, which already has direct flights from Guarulhos (São Paulo) and Galeão (Rio de Janeiro).
The new route in Paraná will allow quick connections with 4 other Brazilian airports: Brasília, Congonhas (São Paulo), Porto Alegre and Santos Dumont (Rio de Janeiro).
LATAM should operate more than 430 flights between Brazil and Chile in November. The volume represents an increase of approximately 220% in its operation between the two countries compared to the same month of 2021.
In addition to the opening of Curitiba-Santiago, growth will be driven by the expansion of the Guarulhos-Santiago routes (from 19 to 41 weekly flights) and Galeão-Santiago (from 7 to 10 weekly flights).
To Aline Mafra, Director of Sales and Marketing at LATAM Brazil, the investment in Curitiba reinforces how the company is attentive to opportunities to expand options for travelers. “During the pandemic, we became more efficient and this allows us to sustainably expand connectivity not only on domestic flights, but also abroad. Paraná has just gained a convenient option to travel to Chile more quickly”.
In all, in November, LATAM will have returned to flying directly from Brazil to 21 of its 26 international destinations operated before the Covid-19 pandemic. They are: Asunción, Barcelona, Bogotá, Boston, Buenos Aires/Aeroparque, Buenos Aires/Ezeiza, Mexico City, Frankfurt, Lima, Lisbon, London, Madrid, Mendoza, Miami, Milan, Montevideo, New York, Orlando, Paris, Rome and Santiago.
“CCR Aeroportos is focused on expanding the connectivity of Curitiba and the State of Paraná with other countries. A direct flight to Santiago de Chile opens up the possibility of a new experience between destinations: a quick trip that allows what we call escape tourism, those short trips of three or four days. In 2023 we will have five long national holidays, a great opportunity for people from Paraná to enjoy the city, wineries or even ski in Vale Nevado. For those who have more time, LATAM offers connectivity throughout the region, including unique nature destinations such as the Torre del Paine National Park in the extreme south and the Atacama Desert in the north of the country.”, claims Graziella Delicato, Air Business Manager at CCR Aeroportos.
“Chile, after the easing of health measures, such as the end of vaccine authorization requirements and the mandatory use of masks, which were modified on the last day 1, remains a safe country with a high vaccination rate. . To this, we add that we have a varied offer and different destinations to choose from”Says Veronica Kunze, Undersecretary of Tourism of Chile, complementing that the Brazilian market is one of the main emitters that Chile has. “In the last snow season, for example, between the months of June and July, we received almost 60 Brazilian visitors, a number that is 49% higher than initially projected”.
