Legacy 500 breaks two speed records in its category

Embraer Executive Jets announced today that the Legacy 500 has set two new world speed records in its midsize class, bringing the total to six in 2015. Hawaii, with five engers on board. The flight from Burbank, California, to Kahului (Maui) crossed 4010 km in 6 hours, at an average speed of 680 km/h and the return flight to Phoenix, Arizona, reached 846 km/h, crossing 4574 km in 5 hours and 30 minutes.

“These new speed records confirm the superior performance of the Legacy 500 and its capability for transoceanic or transcontinental missions,” said Marco Tulio Pellegrini, President, Embraer Executive Jets. he adds, "The Legacy 500 is also setting (for the market) new standards in comfort, technology, operating cost and reliability in the midsize category."

Earlier this year, four other records were also recognized. The first two were won during the round trip, with six engers on board, between the American cities of Oakland, California, and Lihue, Hawaii, a distance of 3954 km. The flight to Lihue was completed in 5 hours and 49 minutes, at an average speed of 676 km/h, on March 7. The return took 4 hours and 11 minutes, at an average speed of 943km/h.

Another speed record set by the Legacy 500 was on the flight to Friedrichshafen, , from Bangor Airport, in the US state of Maine. The 5945 km trip was completed in 6 hours and 50 minutes, with three occupants on board.

Another record was broken during the flight between Düsseldorf, in , and Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, over a distance of 6052 km, the longest ever traveled by the Legacy 500. The duration of the flight was 7 hours and 3 minutes and the The aircraft arrived at the destination with a fuel reserve of 861 kg, with an average final consumption on this mission of just 721 kg of JET A-1 per hour.

The NAA (National Aeronautic Association) of the United States and the Federation Aeronautique Internationale of Switzerland confirmed each of the flights as American and world records, respectively. In all six speed record breaks, the Legacy 500 completed the mission with fuel reserves to NBAA IFR flight standards.

The Legacy 500 is the first executive jet of its class equipped with a full fly-by-wire electronic flight control system, sidestick and the Rockwell Collins avionics suite. Pro Line Fusion with four 15,1-inch high-resolution LCD flat screens, in addition to features such as Jeppesen charts and electronic maps.
