From November 29th to December 01st, the Leonardo Company participates in EXPODEFENSA, one of the main defense and security fairs in Latin America, which takes place in Bogotá, capital of Colombia.
During the event, the company will present innovative products and technologies, developed to meet the needs of government, military and private customers in the region.
Given its important presence in South America, Leonardo will highlight solutions in the aeronautics, electronics, helicopters and space sectors that can strengthen security and the continent's economic growth.
In Latin America, many countries seek to equip themselves with technologies that can boost security and civil protection efforts, which makes this market strategic for Leonardo.

The company has an established presence in many countries in the region, with around 500 helicopters in operation today and 70 naval systems in use, as well as aircraft, primary and secondary radar for air traffic control and space solutions.
sco Moliterni, VP CCO for Leonardo's Latam region and President of Leonardo do Brasil, said: “Building on our technology leadership, Leonardo offers state-of-the-art integrated products and solutions with dual-use applications to strengthen global security. Our intention in Latin America is to invest in developing local skills and production capabilities, rather than simply exporting.”
“One country where we are creating long-term opportunities is Colombia, where we supply helicopters, defense systems, avionics and air traffic control radar. Here, we have agreements with CODALTEC and CIAC – two companies in the country – for potential t participation in national programs, as well as business development across the region.”
“Collaborations could relate to a wide range of capabilities, including fixed-wing aircraft such as the M-346 Fighter Attack and ATR 72 for maritime patrol, helicopters and unmanned systems such as the Falco EVO designed for surveillance missions. ”

“An important example of Leonardo's commitment to Latin America is the construction of the satellite teleport in Maricá/RJ in Brazil, one of the most advanced terrestrial structures in the region for communications operators. Built by the Brazilian subsidiary of Telespazio, it will provide services that, through e-GEOS, will the implementation of the Urban and Rural Cadastro project in Colombia led by the Instituto Geográfica Agustín Codazzi”.
Anyone ing by Leonardo's stand at EXPODEFENSA will be able to check out the aircraft M-346 Fighter Attack (FA), already delivered to its first international customer, and designed to carry out a wide variety of missions at a lower cost than top-tier fighters.
With features including multi-mode fire control radar Griffin M-346 integrated by Leonardo, the M-346FA can be used as a tactical aircraft, maintaining its characteristics as an advanced training aircraft. Its multifunctional nature represents an ideal solution for the needs of many militaries in the region.
Also on display is the multi-mission aircraft C-27J Spartan. The aircraft has already been chosen in the region by the Mexican and Peruvian Air Forces, where it performs solidly thanks to its ability to land on dirt and semi-prepared runways.

The C-27J is considered a real asset to boost social inclusion, as it can reach populations in remote areas. Already recognized as the most efficient multirole military transport aircraft in its class, the C-27J Next Generation adds new avionics and aerodynamic elements that provide greater operational efficiency and improved performance.
With operational experience accumulated in different geographic regions by a variety of s, the Spartan is deployed in a wide variety of challenging operational contexts, from the high altitudes of the Andes to Afghanistan.
Its missions include military, parachute and material transport, troop tactics , special forces operations, humanitarian assistance and natural disaster .

Together with its tactical aircraft, Leonardo will present the ATR-72MP (Maritime Patrol), which combines the reliability and low operating costs of the ATR 72-600 enger aircraft with a state-of-the-art mission system.
The ATR 72MP is equipped with Leonardo's ATOS (Airborne Tactical Observation and Surveillance) system, which manages all onboard sensors, combining the information received in real time into an overall tactical situation.

This modular avionics system, which can also be integrated on board other aircraft, both planes and helicopters and unmanned aircraft, is very effective for border surveillance, from monitoring traffic corridors, protecting fisheries and search and rescue operations. (SAR) to combating smuggling and patrolling economically exclusive areas.
To date, over 60 ATOS systems have been installed worldwide on 10 different types of aircraft.
Leonardo's portfolio of surveillance solutions includes tactical ground communications, radars for air traffic control (ATC) and defense, systems C-UAS to combat hostile drones (even those that are not easily detected by conventional aerial surveillance equipment) and unmanned systems.
EXPODEFENSA will give Leonardo the opportunity to highlight the innovative features of his FALCO EVO, an unmanned ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) system.

The drone is capable of flying for more than 20 consecutive hours while carrying up to 100 kg of payload, including electro-optical sensors, radars and communication systems. Its robustness, connectivity and ability to carry multiple sensors make it an effective solution for monitoring large areas of land and sea.
As a strategic partner of the Italian Navy, Leonardo is a reference supplier for naval forces around the world. Eight navies in the Latin American region chose the company's defense systems to protect their vessels, including state-of-the-art ones.
the guided ammunition DART (Driven Ammunition Reduced Time of Flight) by Leonardo will be exhibited in Bogotá. It is effective against maneuvering missiles and small targets, as well as its Vulcano 76 mm ammunition, which has a range of over 40 km.
In addition to weapons systems, Leonardo's naval portfolio includes command and control, radar, submarine, optronic and maritime communication systems, including tactical links. The company can provide cutting-edge solutions for combat management, such as the Combat Management System, which can integrate and coordinate information from sensors in real time, providing crew with complete knowledge of the maritime situation.
Leonardo also offers the Section (Smart Eyes on the SEas), a geospatial platform for maritime security created by e-GEOS (a t venture between Telespazio (80%) and the Italian Space Agency (20%)).
By employing big data analysis models and cloud computing, SEonSE allows s to access personalized real-time information about what is happening at sea, even from a tablet or smartphone.
The solution, which integrates data from multiple sources, enables dual-use maritime security and surveillance services, control of illicit traffic, environmental monitoring and the fight against piracy.
The platform processes information obtained from satellites and coastal radars and uses proprietary algorithms to merge this data with ship position information (AIS, VMS, LRIT), naval records and various databases, as well as meteorological and oceanographic data.
The e-GEOS platform will also be present braINT, which uses artificial intelligence algorithms to provide analytics based on data extracted from a variety of sources, including drones and satellites.

At EXPODEFENSA, Leonardo will also highlight its helicopter AW139, whose VVIP configuration was chosen in Colombia for the personal transport of the President of the Republic.
This helicopter has also been selected by Colombian customers for civil transport operations in of the oil and gas industry, with five helicopters entering service with operator Helistar in recent years.
Having secured orders for more than 1.200 units for more than 290 customers in over 70 countries, the AW139 is the market leader in a variety of roles including offshore transport, search and rescue, land security, firefighting, VIP and enger transport, as well as military functions.
Leonardo is present in Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile and Peru and intends to further expand and strengthen its presence in Latin America.
