Lisbon Airport is voted the worst in the world by aviation consultancy

Lisbon Airport – Humberto Delgado, was recently elected by AirHelp as the worst in the world, according to a company ranking that considers the opinions of engers, and the punctuality of flights.

In the published ranking, of the 10 best airports, those located in Doha (Hamad), Tokyo (Narita) and Athens, lead the table, while Humberto Delgado is in 132nd position.

According to the organizer of the selection, AirHelp, in the 2019 data, Humberto Delgado Airport recorded several flight delays, whether in departures or arrivals. In addition, some services offered to engers were considered to be deficient.

The total score was 5,76 for Lisbon Airport, with emphasis on the score 4,7 for punctuality, and 7,3 for services and availability of food and drinks.

Curitiba Airport and Viracopos, in Campinas, were the only ones present in the TOP 10, with overall scores of 8,37 and 8,25, respectively.

In 2017, Humberto Delgado Airport handled 26,6 million engers and was already well above its enger processing capacity. Some Expansion works started at Humberto Delgado Airport and should be completed soon, however, the site has its space limits.

Still in 2021, Humberto Delgado Airport had to face a series of strikes organized by the Union of Airport Handling Technicians (STHA), canceling thousands of TAP flights in the middle of the pandemic.
