Malaysia Airlines will resume operations on selected routes

Malaysia Airlines, in a press release released on Monday (30), said it will reinstate some suspended routes throughout April and May. This is being done to bring home people who have been stranded in other parts of the world due to travel restrictions due to the spread of COVID-19.

Starting April 1, Malaysia Airlines will resume flights from Kuala Lumpur to Auckland, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Jakarta and Guangzhou. 

“Many Malaysian and foreign customers ed our global offices requesting available flights, mainly between Kuala Lumpur to Australia and New Zealand, as well as between Kuala Lumpur and London,” Malaysia Airlines Group CEO Izham Ismail said in a statement.

Malaysia has the highest number of coronavirus cases so far in Southeast Asia. The country has recorded 2766 cases and 43 deaths. The nationwide movement restriction order means that Malaysian citizens are not allowed to leave the country. Anyone returning from abroad will be subject to medical checks upon arrival and subject to quarantine for 14 days.
