O Manaus International Airport – Eduardo Gomes, starting this Friday (17/9), will win a Spotter Point. The space is the first in Brazil to be idealized, designed and structured exclusively for aviation lovers. The metal structure measures 8m² and is covered to protect spotters from heat and rain.
Photographers and videographers who have aviation as a hobby will have a privileged view of the landing and takeoff runways, in addition to the aircraft patio, to guarantee the best shots of the airport.
The project is an initiative of the traffic coordinator at the Manaus airport, Márcio Souto, and was conducted by Infraero. Spotter Point received donations of materials from various partners in the airline industry for the development of the structure.
Márcio, who is also a spotter and ionate about aviation, idealized the place for the exclusive reception of enthusiasts. “The purpose was to serve this hobby that is growing every day in the country and in the world, offering a safe, comfortable space and with a privileged view to aviation lovers”, points out Márcio.
The space will bear the name of “Spotter Point Filipe Aquino”, a tribute to the young man ionate about aviation who dreamed of being a journalist and fed his blog and social networks with photographic records taken daily at Manaus Airport. Filipe ed away in 2020, aged 15.
For the superintendent of Manaus Airport, Odone Bizz, opening the doors to aviation lovers reinforces Infraero's respect for the local community. “Spotters are important partners who recognize the beauty of aviation and see the airport as a heritage that interests everyone”, he adds.

The spotting hobby is widely practiced in several countries and has also grown in Brazil. Spotters can either observe the movement of aircraft or record operations involving aviation using photographs or video.
