Maringá Airport reaches 21 daily flights, offered by three airlines

The Municipality of Maringá has a permanent work to expand flight options to engers at Maringá Airport, Silvio Name Júnior.

There are 21 daily operations with routes to Curitiba, São Paulo, Campinas, Porto Alegre, Navegantes, Florianópolis, Cuiabá and Porto Seguro, which serve a public that seeks traditional tourism and also the so-called business tourism.

Last year, Azul offered temporary lines to meet year-end demand. Among the next flights, a new line is planned between Maringá and Curitiba, by Latam. It is estimated that it will start operating at the end of March.

“One of our pillars has always been the largest number of flight alternatives”, comments the airport superintendent, Fernando Rezende. “It is a need of our population, who always look for air transport to go straight to their favorite destinations”.

The airlines Azul, Gol and Latam operate. Currently, they perform 148 weekly operations between landings and takeoffs at Maringa Airport.

Maringá Regional Airport underwent a renovation last year, gaining several improvements. The investment was around R$ 81,5 million, with resources from the Federal Government.

The runway increased from 2,1 meters to 2.380 meters in length and 45 meters in width. The modernization includes the Approach Lighting System (ALS), led beacons, among others.

The patio was expanded and has 12 aircraft parking positions. The Fire Fighting Section (SCI) of the Fire Department was also reformed.

Among the works, the enger Terminal is to be renovated, in addition to installing fingers to improve and speed up boarding and disembarking, installation of elevators and escalators, among other equipment, more than doubling the area from 3,4 m² to 8 m², in an initiative by Ulisses Maia management.

Improvements to the control tower are also expected to be implemented soon. The superintendence is still working towards the start of cargo aircraft operations, which depends on approval by the Federal Revenue and will bring more business to the city.

“Everything to transform the airport in Maringa into one of the most modern in Brazil, which will help boost the city’s economy, facilitating investments and new business”, concludes Rezende.
