MARS 2020: NASA's Perseverance rover is placed in the hood of the Atlas V rocket

The Rover Perseverance of the NASA Mars 2020 mission was placed yesterday (8/7), in the hood (load module) of the ULA (United Launch Alliance) Atlas V rocket. The launch of the rocket with the rover that goes to Mars is scheduled for the 30th of this month.

After some delays due to technical problems, so far the rover and the rocket are ready for launch from Cape Canaveral, Florida.

The rover will arrive at the red planet on February 18, 2021 and land in the Jezero crater which has a diameter of 45km.

Perseverance's mission is to conduct geological experiments to search for signs of ancient microbial life on Mars. Perceverance will also collect and store small Martian rocks so that they may be able to be brought back to Earth in a future mission coordinated by the ESA (European Space Agency and NASA).
