The mayor of Maceió, JHC celebrated the authorization by ANAC (National Civil Aviation Agency) for large aircraft operations, such as landings and takeoffs, at Zumbi dos Palmares International Airport.
The Ordinance in this regard was published in the Federal Official Gazette (DOU) this past Monday (14/02).
“This measure will expand the flow of engers, generating jobs and income. Last year, almost two million people ed through Maceió airport. Now, the capital can receive even the Boeing 777, the largest twin engine in the world. We also spoke with Aena about expanding the structure, doubling the boarding points and about the new Master Plan for the Airport”, declared the mayor of Maceió, who also made a publication on the subject on his social networks.
In October last year, Mayor JHC met with the aena brazil, responsible for managing airports in the Northeast, including Maceió, to deal with the situation.

During the meeting with Aena's director of international branches, Rodrigo Marabini, JHC discussed improvements and new investments for Zumbi dos Palmares International Airport.
On the occasion, the airport expansion project was presented to the mayor, whose work is scheduled to start in 2022. The expansion of the structure takes into the high tourist season and aims to ensure modernization and generation of employment and income in the capital of Alagoas.
According to Aena/Brasil, Zumbi dos Palmares International Airport ed a 66,25% increase in the flow of engers during 2021, when compared to 2020. In total, more than 1,9 million people ed through the Airport in 2021.
