According to a statement from MSC, the company will not bet on continuing its bet on buying ITA Airways together with Lufthansa. In this way, the German group will be alone in its proposed purchase of the Italian airline, which so far is the best proposal.
Lufthansa negotiated tly with MSC for the purchase of the new Italian state company, the proposal was to acquire 80% of the capital, but for a value of up to 800 million euros, compared to the indication of 1 billion euros in the proposal previously presented. This represents a 20% cut.
Running out of time, the Italian government's objective is to complete the sale of the company as soon as possible, fearing that the elections in the country will paralyze negotiations for the sale of ITA Airways.
ITA Airways meanwhile expands its operations, receiving new and expensive Airbus A350-900 in its fleet, while debuting flights to São Paulo and Buenos Aires (Argentina), for example.
