NASA signs billionaire contract with Elon Musk's SpaceX on space missions

The National Aeronautics and Space istration (NASA) announced a contract worth US$1,4 billion (about R$7 billion) to transport astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS).

According to the agreement, NASA will have five space missions with SpaceX, with Elon Musk's company getting permission for this type of mission only at the end of 2020, when it won the competition with Boeing that intends to use its Starliner capsule. Since then, SpaceX has received around $5 billion for providing its services.

Therefore, the space agency also announced that it will guarantee the continuity of its human access missions to space by the ISS until the middle of 2030. There is also an expectation with Elon Musk's projects with Starship to take man to the Moon and Mars .

Including SpaceX, NASA also closed a similar agreement with Boeing to carry out six space missions, however, delays with the Starliner capsule postponed the first scheduled flight in 2017, with the expectation of the first mission only for next year .
