The re-bidding process for São Gonçalo do Amarante Airport, in Natal, can now move forward. This is what guarantees the decision of the minister of the Federal Court of s (TCU), Aroldo Cedraz, handed down this Wednesday afternoon (10). This occurred after the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Infrastructure, provided clarification on the proposal.
The understanding defended by the National Secretariat of Civil Aviation and the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac) prevailed, with the of the Government of Rio Grande do Norte and the state's federal bench in the National Congress, that the procedures can be carried out simultaneously.
“Good sense prevailed there, an understanding of the issue, which is not very simple”, highlighted the National Secretary of Civil Aviation, Ronei Glanzmann.

Now, Anac can resume the process of calculating the compensation while the Court finalizes the analysis of the said auction, including drafts of the public notice and the contract, in addition to the Technical, Economic and Environmental Feasibility studies.
According to the decision handed down by Aroldo Cedraz, there will be a division of the processes. This means that now the TCU will be able to conclude the assessment of the preparatory documents for the new bid for the airport, while Anac will maintain the indemnity payment owed to Infraframerica, which decided to voluntarily return the asset to the Union.

NEXT STEPS - Re-bidding is a voluntary act and consists of the friendly return of the asset with the consequent holding of a new auction and the g of another concession contract with the winner of the bidding process. The Natal terminal is the first asset in the airport sector to go through a new auction.
The planned investment in the new concession is estimated at R$ 308,9 million and the process should generate 4.545 new jobs throughout the contract – including direct, indirect and income-effect. The auction is expected to be held in the first half of 2022.
