National Agricultural Aviation Congress resumes this year with a focus on technology

With the theme “New Times”, indicating the return of the face-to-face event and the advancement of aero-agricultural technologies, the National Congress of Agricultural Aviation had the participation of the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC).

Held in Sertãozinho, in the interior of São Paulo (SP), from the 19th to the 21st of July, the event was promoted by the National Union of Agricultural Aviation Companies (Sindag). The Agency had its own stand to promote the dissemination of information on agricultural aviation with the public present at the congress. 

At the opening and in the first of the event, “Development Scenarios”, ANAC representatives reinforced the importance of opportunities, such as this event, to maintain proximity with the regulated, understand the needs of this public and trace the path to meet them .

They also highlighted the positive impact of regulation on the sector and the importance of social participation, inviting viewers to participate in public consultations (click to access).  

The occasion also made it possible to emphasize communication through Telegram groups, such as channel focused on the aeroagricultural audience, a novelty launched during the Congress. 

In addition to this, the ANAC has two other channels on Telegram, one of which is aimed at maintenance organizations e another focused on operational safety (click on the links to access). Through them, interested parties receive selected and exclusive information. 

Still on the first day, already in the afternoon, there was a discussion about the general overhaul of engines for general aviation at the ANAC stand. The evaluation of theoretical aspects, operational safety and cost-benefit related to the sector were addressed.

Those interested were able to find out what a general overhaul is, what its purpose is, what types are available on the market, who is the professional who can carry out a general overhaul of an engine, among other aspects related to the topic.

On the second day of the event, ANAC was present on the “Who is responsible for maintenance?”. The roles of professionals within the scope of the 's theme were discussed.

On the part of the Agency, the importance of responsibility for maintenance being held by everyone involved in the activity was discussed – from the company owner, ing through the pilots, technical manager, maintenance director, mechanic and reaching all those who work in the organization. 

This was also an opportunity to clarify that ANAC's regulations address the issue of responsibility for maintenance at various points. The CBA (Brazilian Aeronautical Code) itself, as stated during the presentation, brings the responsibility of the operator and maintainers to carry out the services in compliance with the manufacturers' instructions and following the regulations of the civil aviation authority.

On the occasion, there was an explanation that the role of ANAC goes beyond being an authority for the application of punishment, but above that, there are the functions of promotion and guidance.

During audits and inspections, the Agency is careful to that, in fact, the operator is fully complying with the maintenance program, if the mechanic who is performing it has the necessary qualifications, that is, if he is properly qualified, if he has training or extensive experience. In addition, it is verified whether the operator is using the updated publications and recommended tools.
