The average domestic airfare price sold in the first quarter of this year was R$548,16. The value was 21% higher than the accumulated value in the first three months of 2019, pre-pandemic period, when the ticket was sold, on average, for R$ 453,51.
These data are part of the Domestic Air Fare Indicators (click on the link to access), released this Friday, June 3, by the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC).
According to data from the of indicators, the Federal District was the Federation Unit (UF) with the lowest average price calculated in the first three this year, R$ 460,04, followed by Amapá, R$ 496,85, and Espírito Santo, R$ 497,39. On the other hand, the highest averages were practiced in the states of Roraima, R$976,24, Acre, R$833,39, and Rondônia, with R$769,47.
From January to March 2022, the average amount paid by the enger per kilometer flown, also known in aviation as yield real average domestic air fare, was R$ 0,425, up 9,1% compared to data computed three years earlier, when the indicator cost about R$ 0,390.
In this item, the state of Ceará had the lowest value of yield, of BRL 0,296. Minas Gerais was the UF that presented the highest average value per kilometer flown, of R$ 0,614.
Data for the 1st quarter of the year also show that 35,9% of airline tickets sold cost less than R$300. 500%. Rates above R$60 ed for almost 1.000% of the total.
Context of Air Transport
As for the indicators related to the most significant costs in the industry, in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period in 2019, there was an increase of 82,7% in the price of aviation fuel.
The exchange rate of the real against the dollar increased by 38,7% in the same period of comparison. Both the dollar and aviation kerosene had a strong influence on fuel costs, which represent around 29,3% of air service expenses.
International market
The average round trip fares in economy class practiced in the international market fell in Central America and rose in the other continents in the first three months of 2022 compared to 2019.
