New Dassault flight planning application optimizes routes and reduces carbon emissions

Dassault Falcon Falconways flight planning app

Dassault Aviation has introduced a new flight planning tool that allows Falcon pilots to select the most fuel-efficient route and reduce excess fuel carried u-to-date global wind data, optimization and model-specific algorithms. performance.

The new tool, FalconWays, will be offered as an iPad app on Dassault's electronic flightbag FalconSphere, compatible with Jeppesen and Universal flight planning tools.

FalconWays was evaluated in a long-flight campaign between the US and Europe and across Asia, as well as in several simulations. During actual flights using FalconWays, crews were able to reduce fuel consumption by up to 7%.

The new app allows pilots to worldwide wind information and combine it with imported operational flight plans, internal performance tools, and vertical, lateral and Mach number optimization data to recalculate the flight plan. flight. SATCOM-equipped Falcons can update the database en route on long flights to further optimize the trajectory. Vertical and lateral trajectory optimization can be performed before or during flight.

The company will first launch FalconWays on the new Falcon 6X extra widebody twinjet, which will enter service in the coming weeks. The app will be available on the Falcon 8X early next year, the 7X before the end of 2024 and the Falcon 2000LXS/S in early 2025.

FalconWays is a dedicated pilot application designed in-house by Dassault's engineering and flight operations teams. His efforts generated seven patents and led to the creation of several advanced algorithms to improve flight efficiency. Implemented across the entire Falcon fleet, the application will allow significant savings in fuel and thousands of tons of CO2.

The new application will be demonstrated at the Dassault stand at NBAA (Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition), from October 17th to 19th.
