The main change in this phase of the work takes place on the ground floor, where the fences have already been removed, freeing up the central area of the interior so that circulation no longer needs to be diverted to the external area, starting to occur entirely inside the terminal, with more comfort, agility and safety.

Check-in is the main service in the renovated lobby. It includes a battery of 16 counters, scales and baggage carousels. The three airlines that operate in the terminal – Azul, Gol and Latam – also gain new office space. The lobby also houses 9 stores and new conveyor belts for checked-in luggage. Another novelty is the inspection channel, which was also expanded, offering more comfort during the boarding process. The former check-in area will be transformed into a restaurant.

Reformulation

Since it came to be managed by the Aena Brazil, three years ago, Juazeiro do Norte Airport underwent a total transformation. The terminal has also gained a façade and a lobby, an arrivals area with two more conveyor belts for baggage reception and commercial, food and retail rooms. The apron was wider, with a 5th position, runway-end escape areas (RESA), restoration of the side safety strip on the runway and renovation of the pavement in the general aviation yard, in addition to the installation of drainage channels for rainwater.

The parking lot was expanded and restructured, doubling the number of parking spaces and modifying the CE-292 highway so that it no longer crosses the space for cars – now the road es in the surroundings, it is wider and with better signage.
