The US manufacturer Northrop Grumman announced on Tuesday that it has delivered ALQ-01 radio frequency countermeasures (RFCM) systems to the US Special Operations Command.
The instruments will be integrated into the US Air Forces MC-130J Commando II and AC-130J Ghostrider aircraft. The integration will be performed by Sierra Nevada Corporation under the guidelines of the RFCM Program.
According to the manufacturer, the ALQ-251 will provide superior situational awareness and protection against electronic warfare systems and radar-guided weapons in contested and congested electromagnetic spectrum environments.

The company also notes that operators of these large aircraft will benefit from the ability to maneuver safely in highly contested spectrum environments.
The ALQ-251 will be operated through the new electronic warfare suite, which provides threat detection, precision geolocation and active countermeasures capabilities, providing special operations forces (SOF) operators with accurate and timely situational awareness, improving the aircraft survivability.
