The first deployment of RNoAF F-35 fighters took place in 2020. Iceland does not have its own air force, but it is part of NATO, so it has the right that foreign air forces protect its territory.

Norway has commanded other missions as it is in 2009, 2011, 2014 and 2016 with its F-16 Fighting Falon fighter jets.

Iceland has also received from other air forces such as the Italian air force which used F-35 fighters and the RAF (Royal British Air Force) which used Eurofigter Typhoon fighters.
