NTSB, Boeing and GE to 737 crash investigation

This Monday afternoon (21/03) the NTSB (US National Transportation Safety Board) announced that it will participate, along with Chinese authorities, in the investigation into an accident with the Boeing 737NG from China Eastern Airlines.

Boeing and GE, manufacturers of the aircraft and engines, respectively, will also participate in the investigations to determine the causes.

The accident happened this Monday (21/03). The plane, a Boeing 737-800, was on flight MU5735 that departed from Kumming (KMG) and had Guangzhou Airport (CAN) in China as its final destination.

The Civil Aviation istration of China (CAAC) will lead the investigation in partnership with the NTSB, Boeing and GE. A search and rescue operation is currently taking place, including a search for the black boxes, essential to discover the causes of the accident.

"The NTSB has appointed a senior air safety investigator as the accredited U.S. representative for the investigation of the March 21, 2022 crash of a China Eastern Airlines Boeing 737-800 near Wuzhou, China", said the US body. “Representatives from Boeing, General Electric and the Federal Aviation istration will serve as technical advisors.”

In a note Boeing said: "Boeing is in with the US National Transportation Safety Board, and our technical experts are prepared to assist with the investigation led by the Civil Aviation istration of China."

China Eastern Airlines announced that its entire fleet of 106 Boeing 737-800 aircraft will be grounded. The aircraft involved operated with registration B-1791, and carried 132 engers on board.
