The Muscat-based company announced the arrival of the first of three Boeing 787 Dreamliners scheduled for this year. These aircraft will not only drive the expansion of operations, but will also be configured in two cabin classes, introducing the new concept of Business Class the company.
The addition of this aircraft marks the 10th Dreamliner in the airline's fleet, which currently operates two smaller 787-8s and eight larger 787-9s.
In addition to the two Dreamliners which the airline expects to receive by the end of this year, there are still five 787-9s on order, with deliveries scheduled until 2027.
Con Korfiatis, the company's CEO, stated:
"We are excited to welcome our new Boeing B787-9 to our aircraft lineup, which aligns with our strategy of flying a modern, common Oman Air fleet. This allows us to maintain efficiency in operations, optimize maintenance costs and ensure a seamless and consistent experience for our guests. “
Earlier this week, the airline announced that it will discontinue its First Class and introduce a new product into the Business Class In yours Dreamliners most recent. This new aircraft, the first with the configuration Business Studio, will begin operating on September 9, with daily flights to London Heathrow Airport (LHR) and Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) until the end of the year.
The airline has been focusing on efficiency, scrapping its old Airbus A330s. With newer, more environmentally friendly jets expected to arrive in the coming years, the company will be able to expand as needed in a more profitable and efficient manner.
