Ozires' work philosophy and innovative spirit still echo at Embraer today, creating perfect products suitable for certain markets.

And in a recent interview with the newspaper 'OVALE', from the region of São José dos Campos, Ozires highlighted a little of how he sees Embraer in the future. The founder even highlights the creation of a new type of aircraft, suitable for future demand.

“Our Embraer, which is of great importance to São José dos Campos, needs to react and launch new aircraft projects suited to this demand and, for that, it needs to rely on its human resources”, said Ozires Silva.

Ozires says that the new aircraft comes at a good time. There is no way to launch large jets, according to Ozires, due to the low demand crisis.

“This scenario occurred with the large jets. In the recent past, American Boeing and European Airbus brought large aircraft to the market, such as the Boeing 747 and Airbus 380, now both in the process of withdrawing from service, leaving for the production of smaller and profitable aircraft”, added Ozires.

“The consequences of the decisions implemented by the Federal Government made it possible to open and put into operation hundreds of small regional companies, offering air services to almost 200 Brazilian cities. We never had that in the past”, said Ozires Silva about Embraer's influence on Brazil's regional aviation.

THE TURBOPELL

EMB-120 Brasilia, Embraer's last turboprop.

Ozires said that this is the right project for Embraer, however, the Brazilian manufacturer is studying the manufacturing of another type of aircraft.

Embraer revealed additional details about its turboprop project on July 21st. Rodrigo Silva e Souza, head of marketing and strategy at Embraer Commercial Aviation, outlined a vision for the new aircraft and detailed that the plane should reach the market in this decade.

In a virtual presentation of the Farnborough Airshow Connect, Rodrigo stated that the project is advancing internally due to the aircraft's versatility. He believes that the plane could be applied in markets with little demand and in places where it is difficult to place a regional jet.

Embraer's new turboprop is expected to carry around 70 to 100 engers, and have significant upgrades in aerodynamics and the propulsion system. The goal is to create an aircraft with lower CO2 emissions for short-haul flights, and outperform competitors such as the ATR.

This new perspective goes against Embraer's previous goal of an aircraft for 40 to 80 engers, and towards the E175 and E190.

Behind the scenes, the project is moving forward with the team conducting extensive market research and talking to engine suppliers. Embraer also indicates that it may opt for unorthodox technologies, such as hybrid propulsion in the new aircraft.

The project is in its early stages of development, so there is still a lot of concept creation and partnerships to launch the product. If Embraer used current technology, it would be possible to make the plane available by 2025, according to Rodrigo.

A more significant advance, however, depends on how Embraer finds new technologies. THE Rolls-Royce, for example, was already developing a hybrid propulsion together with Airbus.

The project can be carried out through Embraer itself for the time being, as there are no companies listed or interested in a partnership.
