The 5th Civil Court of the Regional Forum of Jabaquara determined this week that Guarulhos Airport pays for the expenses of veterinary treatment and hospitalization of the dog Pandora that disappeared on its premises.
The airline that transported the animal must pay for the accommodation, daily food and transportation of the owners, who live in another state, for at least 15 days, which may be renewed periodically.
A daily fine of R$ 1 was set in case of non-compliance, in addition to a fine for acts that violate the dignity of justice, of up to 20% of the amount in dispute.
It appears in the records that the owner purchased a plane ticket from Recife to Navegantes, with a stopover in São Paulo on December 15th.
During the connection, it was informed that the dog Pandora, who was being transported by the airline on the same flight, had escaped from her transport box, getting lost at the airport.
The animal was only found after 45 days of searching, at the airport itself, showing severe weight loss and in need of treatment.
According to Judge Juliana Pitelli da Guia, responsibility for what happened will be determined during the course of the process. What is an incontrovertible fact is that the dog was being transported by one of the defendants when she disappeared in the other's premises, resulting in the obligation to pay for veterinary treatment until complete recovery and to bear the expenses of the owners.
The magistrate authorized the authors of the action to stay in a tourist-class hotel and transport is done by taxi or app (provided that the hotel is within a maximum radius of 15 km from the veterinary clinic). Payments must be made directly into the author's bank in order to speed up the effectiveness of the guardianship and the procedural process.
GRU Airport can still appeal the court decision.
