This year's civic-military parade is considered special. This will be the first celebration since 2019, as the 2020 and 2021 editions were canceled due to the pandemic. At the same time, Brazil completes the 200th anniversary of its independence, which the government has celebrated with a series of exhibitions.

A source confirmed to AEROFLAP that two fighter jets will be in the parade. The overflight of combat planes was common until 2012, when the parade was still held on Avenida Loureiro da Silva, in the center of Porto Alegre.

In addition to the return of the Pampa Squadron's F-5s, the parade in the capital of Rio Grande do Sul should have transport and patrol aircraft from the Pegasus and Phoenix squadrons. The three units are based at the Canoas Air Force Base, in the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre.

In an unprecedented way, paratroopers from the Brazilian Army will jump from a FAB plane over Guaíba. The presence of helicopters and vessels from the Brazilian Navy is also expected.
