The Federal Police, with the of the National Civil Aviation Agency – ANAC, launched this Monday (24/5) a police operation in the city of Vera Cruz/SP, with the purpose of investigating an alleged association with drug trafficking.
The investigations, which led to the issuance of two search and seizure warrants by the Federal Court of Marília/SP, revealed evidence of the use of small aircraft to transport narcotics from neighboring countries to Brazil.
The suspicions are that, in order to allow for trips to distant places and without making stopovers, the aircraft were modified, clandestinely, in order to increase the flight range.
ANAC technicians are checking aircraft components in a private workshop, looking for any irregular alterations.
The materials collected during the execution of the search and seizure warrants will be analyzed by the Federal Police, aiming at the delimitation of responsibility.
