A Cessna Caravan 675 registration PK-SMG of the regional company Sam Air of Indonesia came under fire as pilots were preparing to leave the aircraft at Kenyam Airport in Nduga Regency province, Papua.
According to information from the local media, the aircraft had completed a regional flight from Wamena Airport (WMX), when the pilots were surprised by gunfire.
Despite the scare, the plane was hit by at least 15 shots, which in addition to damaging the fuselage, hit the engine, part of the landing gear, as well as the windows and the fuel tank. In addition, the pilot and copilot of the aircraft were injured, but without risk of death.
They attacked the aircraft with gunshots when pilots had just shut the engines off and still inside the aircraft. But they are safe with minor injuries and being medically treated.
It is being said that a separatist group TPNPB-OPM was behind the attack.

After the attack, the Papuan police announced that the attack was promoted by the terrorist group Kelompok Kriminal Bersenjata (KKB), who carried out another attack on a post office in the vicinity of the region during the escape.
Finally, the provincial governor of Nduga Regency reported that security at the airport where the attack took place had been tightened and that the police were investigating the case.
