Production of the P-8 Poseidon in Norway has started, the first maritime patrol aircraft destined for Norway is already on the production line, Boeing announced on the last day 29.
Production is taking place in Seattle, USA. In this facility, the necessary modifications will be made that will transform a common Boeing 737 into an aircraft for strategic military use.
Norway will acquire five P-8A Poseidon, the aircraft are expected to be delivered between 2022 and 2023.
The new aircraft will replace the current six Lockheed Martin P-3C Orion and three Dassault Falcon DA-20 Jet Falcon surveillance aircraft.
Other foreign nations are also acquiring the P-8A Poseidon, this is the case from Australia and United Kingdom.
