Strategic proposals from the Federal Government such as the Provisional Measure 1024 / 2020, which extends the rules for refunding airline tickets, and the simple flight program will play a fundamental role in recovering the economic losses caused by the covid-19 pandemic in Brazilian civil aviation.

During a public hearing at the Tourism Commission of the Chamber of Deputies to discuss the impact of the covid-19 pandemic on air transport, this Monday (10), the National Secretary of Civil Aviation of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Ronei Glanzmann, said that the reduction of bureaucracy will help in this process.

“The debureaucratization program will follow to the National Congress, looking at the recovery of the sector, which is very poignant and resilient. We have to loosen the chains that insist on holding the sector back”, highlighted the Secretary of Civil Aviation, referring to the Simple Flight proposal, which will still be sent to the National Congress.

PROPOSALS – Provisional Measure No. 1024/20 extends until October this year the rules for refunding flights canceled by airlines and for cases of consumer withdrawal. In practice, engers are guaranteed the right to reschedule their flights, up to one year after cancellation or withdrawal, without additional costs or payment of fines. The MP, however, needs to be voted on by June 1 by the National Congress.

The Voo Simples program, launched last October by President Jair Bolsonaro, brings more than 50 measures that will help reduce the costs of the sector and the impacts caused by covid-19, generating more jobs.

RECOVERY - “Even in crisis, all our airlines are flying, preparing for the resumption process that will come with vaccination. We have to pursue this vaccination so that we have the poignant aviation sector again”, reiterated the secretary. “And at the same time, cut those anvils and allow the industry to thrive,” ed.

According to the director of the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac) Tiago Pereira, the program provides for “a cleanup” of legal and regulatory requirements that no longer fit our reality. “Scenarios that made sense 20 years ago, but are now obsolete and must be updated; in addition to bringing the regulation of subjects that have regulatory voids”, explained the director.
