The re-tendering of Natal International Airport advances

Natal Airport Airports ACI ANAC Auction

The first re-tendering of Brazilian airports went ahead today, Friday (29), with the payment of R$ 199,7 million to the concessionaire Inframerica relating to compensation due for investments made at São Gonçalo do Amarante Airport (ASGA), in Rio Grande From north.

The payment was made by the Ministry of Ports and Airports and corresponds to part of the compensation owed to Inframerica which won the ASGA concession in 2011. The remainder of the amount due, the R$ 320 million resulting from the re-bidding auction, held in May this year , will be updated by inflation for the period and paid by Zurich Airport International which won the auction and will be the airport's new concessionaire.

Zurich has up to 15 days, counting from the official payment information, to transfer the amounts to Inframerica. From there, the service order is issued and the operational transition period begins, which may be shorter than the 125 days estimated in the concession contract. This is because the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC), Inframerica and the new concessionaire of Natal International Airport are already working to optimize the transfer of airport operations between the companies.

ASGA was the first airport to be granted, in 2011, within the federal airport concessions program. The new contract to be signed will last 30 years.

“ANAC is proud to complete the ASGA re-tender, within a more modern and efficient concession model. Our objective is to create a partnership that brings gains to society as a whole, with efficient airports, a safe service and a greater number of engers served”, said the director-president of the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC), Tiago Pereira.
