In recent weeks, Russian airlines have been facing great difficulty in keeping their commercial aircraft in operation, resorting to the process of cannibalizing active planes to leave others in flying condition.
The reasons for this action are the various sanctions, which prohibit the importation of aircraft or their parts, manufactured in the USA and Europe. However, there is a problem, more and more airlines will need to reduce their operational fleet, to obtain parts from other planes.
While the Russia does not resume manufacturing its own planes, the Russian aeronautical authority (Rosaviatsia) decided to authorize five companies to produce basic parts for Airbus and Boeing aircraft, also causing minor changes in certification and technical documentation.
The authorization involves, for the time being, non-complex parts such as repairing interior finishes on aircraft, production and repair of seats, and parts for the galley, where flight attendants work. Permission for essential parts for the flight has not yet been granted by Rosaviatsia, but according to sources, there is an internal study to make this independent production possible in the West.
Among the companies that received the certificates are the State Research Institute of Civil Aviation, S7 Technics (which is part of the S7 group), Ural Civil Aviation Factory, Aviation Engineering Solutions and the Navigator Institute of Aeronautical Instrumentation.
Rosaviatsia also analyzes the manufacture of parts by the companies Volga-Dnepr, UTair, Aviagrand, A-technics, the maintenance division of the Aeroflot group.
