RIOgaleão and Micaelis enter into partnership to develop autonomous eVTOL flights

RIOgaleão and Micaelis, a Brazilian air mobility startup, have signed a term sheet to develop autonomous test flights using eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft). The innovative partnership aims to connect Tom Jobim International Airport to strategic destinations in the greater Rio de Janeiro region.

To advance sustainable air mobility solutions, the partnership, which will initially last for 2 years, will design and install an integrated “vertiport” to optimize the cargo and enger journey at Rio International Airport. The goal is to develop the airport’s connectivity with the region through zero-emission air mobility solutions.

The agreement represents an important milestone in the evolution of infrastructure and urban mobility in Brazil, positioning Rio de Janeiro at the forefront of innovation in sustainable air transport.

“This partnership reaffirms our commitment to transforming RIOgaleão into a hub of innovation and sustainability, connecting Rio de Janeiro to the future of air mobility with an efficient transportation alternative. As one of the drivers of the state’s economy, we work to attract disruptive businesses to the region,” says Alexandre Monteiro, president of RIOgaleão.

Vincent Kieffer, Co-CEO of Micaelis, adds: “We are thrilled to collaborate with RIOgaleão on this visionary project that will not only revolutionize urban transportation but also set new standards for sustainable aviation in Brazil and beyond.” This agreement represents a step forward towards the future of aviation and urban mobility across three pillars: sustainability process, with the implementation of zero-emission solutions aligned with global carbon reduction goals; efficiency, with the integration of eVTOL services to increase the airport's connectivity with the Rio de Janeiro metropolitan region; and experience, with the development of an application for managing cargo and enger flow.
