Close to the release of the film Top Gun: Maverick, which will premiere in March, the Russian state-owned Rostec State Corporation decided to take advantage of the good moment of publicizing the feature and provide a special invitation to actor Tom Cruise.
Rostec called the actor to participate in the MAKS-2023 event, the main aviation event in Russia, specifically to meet the Sukhoi Su-57, a fighter that is also present in the new film during an aerial combat.
“The Su-57 is a powerful and advanced machine. Impress and inspire. Not only the military, but also, as we see, filmmakers. We invite Tom Cruise to MAKS-2023 to get to know the Su-57 up close and see with his own eyes the impressive aerobatics on this aircraft that are performed by Russian aces”, Rostec said in a press release.

The Su-57 appears in new trailer released this week by Paramount, the production company that participated in the production of the film.
The video gives more details on the feature film's plot and features the first look at Val Kilmer's character, Tom 'Iceman' Kazansky, in the new film, as well as a quick appearance of the Sukhoi Su-57, a Russian 5th Generation fighter.
At 02:08 it is possible to see the Russian stealth fighter maneuvering against the plane of the “good guys”, which is nothing more than an F-14 Tomcat, an aircraft that was the protagonist of the classic film.

With release scheduled for May 26 in Brazil, Top Gun: Maverick is the sequel to Top Gun: Aces Indomitable, blockbuster from 1986. The film is presented 30 years after the first feature, and may actually have the Su-57 in a situation of combat, according to Rostec, as the Russian fighter was tested in the winter of 2018 in a combat situation in Syria.
