Saab receives order for Carl-Gustaf M4 portable weapon for Norway

Saab and the Norwegian Armed Forces have signed a contract for the supply of the Carl-Gustaf M4 multi-purpose portable shoulder gun. The order foresees deliveries from 2021.

The agreement signed between the two parties allows the Norwegian customer to place orders for the Carl-Gustaf M4, associated equipment and for training for 7 years. The Norwegian armed forces have used the Carl-Gustaf M2 system since the early 70s, and today, in addition to this, the country also uses the M3 version.

“We welcome the latest of the Carl-Gustaf M4. It is a great achievement to continue to the Norwegian armed forces, this time with the latest version of the Carl-Gustaf”, says Görgen Johansson, head of business area Dynamics at Saab.

The Carl-Gustaf M4 is the latest version of the multipurpose portable shoulder weapon system, which provides its s with a wide range of engagement options so troops remain agile and effective in any situation. That's because the equipment builds on the formidable capabilities of the system, which offers a greater degree of accuracy, lighter construction and compatibility with future innovations. The M4 is also compatible with smart targeting systems and future technological developments such as programmable ammunition. Since its launch in 2014, Saab has signed contracts with fourteen different nations for the Carl-Gustaf M4.
