The work includes reinforcing the pavement structure and resurfacing the 1798m x 45m runway 11/29, as well as installing a stop bar and a new light signaling system. In all, R$ 17,9 million will be invested in these improvements, which should be completed by March 2019, as provided for in the bidding notice.

During the performance of the services, the landing and take-off operations must take place normally, since the main runway of the airport must not have any interference, according to the planning and scenarios presented by Infraero to the airlines, Centro de Gestão da Navegação Aérea (CGNA) and the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac).

“The work was planned to be carried out without changing the flight schedule, since the airport, in addition to having another runway, has an interval between 45:23 and 30 hours when there are no regular flights scheduled”, says the superintendent of Operation Management, Marçal Goulart.

“At the end of the services, Afonso Pena Airport will have an improved runway system, with better signaling and that will give more operational planning options to aircraft operators, who will be more agile when defining departure flows and aircraft taxiing”, he says. the president of Infraero, Antônio Claret de Oliveira.

This better use of operations is due to the fact that most of the flights that land and take off at the airport involve aircraft from the Embraer 190, Boeing737 and Airbus A320 families. “These aircraft will be able to use runway 11 more frequently, freeing up the main runway for other operations, in addition to reducing runway maintenance costs, since use will be balanced”, explains Infraero’s Director of Operations and Technical Services, João Marcio Jordan.

The company hired by Infraero to carry out the services was Dalba Engenharia e Empreendimentos, which will receive the service order this Friday, at 11 am, in the departure hall of the enger terminal at Afonso Pena International Airport.
