See vaccines accepted by Switzerland for tourists wishing to enter the country

In order to protect citizens and visitors, going to a restaurant, museum or any other indoor activity, except shopping or public transport, is only allowed for holders of a Swiss Covid-19 certificate. EU citizen certificates are accepted and/or can be converted into a Swiss certificate.

Public transport, markets, shops and malls do not require a COVID certificate. Restaurants, museums and attractions such as the famous scenic trains require a certificate. Mountain tours such as Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe and Titlis continue to operate normally, the certificate will only be required in restaurants.

Visitors who have been fully immunized with two doses of the vaccine (or single dose vaccines) in the last 12 months will be allowed to enter Switzerland without having to take the PCR test or comply with quarantine, the rule is valid for travel from 26.06.2021.

Currently accepted vaccines are those approved by the World Health Organization: BioNTech, Moderna, Pfizer, Janssen, AstraZeneca, Sinovac, Sinopharm and Serum Institute of India.

Swiss COVID certificate for movement of vaccinated individuals abroad

As of October 24, anyone who has been vaccinated abroad with a vaccine approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA), whose list does not include Coronavac, and who travels to Switzerland can obtain a Swiss COVID certificate. This means that people who have been vaccinated abroad, such as tourists, can also participate in social activities.

The period of validity of the COVID certificate is 365 days from the istration of the last vaccine dose.

 

GOOD NEWS to those vaccinated with Coronavac

On November 03rd, the Federal Council announced that tourists vaccinated with SinoPharm/ SinoVac (Coronavirus) will be able to request a COVID certificate from December 01st, however, for those vaccinated with SinoPharm/ SinoVac (Coronavirus) the validity period of the COVID certificate will be 30 days and will only be accepted in Switzerland (not valid in other European countries).

The certificate application form is available electronically at the link: https://www.covidcertificate-form..ch/foreign for completing and submitting the documents. The deadline for receiving the certificate is up to 5 days.

Documents required to apply for the COVID certificate:

  • Information about your nationality (e.g. copy of port).
  • Confirmation of vaccination (eg vaccination certificate with holder details, vaccines istered, the institution that carried out the vaccination, date of vaccination. Switzerland tourism suggests the platform ConnectSUS, where it is possible to issue the digital vaccination certificate with QR Code. For those who have already been fully immunized, the platform also provides the certificate in Spanish and English
  • Reason for your stay in Switzerland, how long you are staying and location.
  •  Proof of arrival in Switzerland (e.g. air ticket, train ticket or accommodation reservation).

The required documents must be submitted in German, French, Italian or English.

After submitting your application, you must the free COVID Certificate app from the Apple App Store, Google Play Store or Huawei App Gallery. The COVID certificate can also be delivered directly to the app.

For the acquisition of the certificate, a fee will be charged to cover the costs of issuing the COVID certificate. The fee costs an average of CHF 30.

 

To tourists vaccinated with Coronavirus who have stayed in Switzerland for more than 30 days

After the thirty-first day of their stay in the country, tourists should perform rapid Sars-CoV tests, the RT PCR test is valid for 72 hours from the time of sample collection and the rapid antigen test is valid for 48 hours from the time of sampling

The test result will be sent by email or SMS and it will be possible to the result in the Covid Certificate application through the QR Code or PDF sent by the laboratory.

 

Summarizing the important information for Brazilians:

  •     After the second dose of the vaccine, entry into the country on the same day is allowed. Those immunized with the Janssen laboratory vaccine need to wait 22 days after the date of vaccination to board.
  •    The last vaccine dose (or single dose) must have been in the last 12 months – in the case of Janssen it is 12 months and 22 days.
  •     If the traveler intends to travel from Switzerland to other countries, the rules of the country of destination will apply.
  •   Upon entering Switzerland, the traveler's s will be requested for data control.
  •    Children up to 16 years old accompanied by parents are exempt from proof of vaccination.
  •   engers aged between 16 and 18 do not need to present an immunization certificate, only a negative PCR test valid within 72 hours. Unvaccinated minors under 18 are still not allowed to enter the country unaccompanied.  
  •    For engers in transit/connection, it is necessary to check the rules with the airline.
  • To enter the country: for proof of Brazilian vaccines, just present the proof of vaccination along with the port. Necessary to contain the information: name, date of birth, date of the vaccine, name of the istered vaccine and name and address of the place of vaccination. Any document valid in national territory is accepted.  
  •    To return to Brazil, it is always necessary to present the negative PCR test issued in less than 72 hours or antigen in less than 24 hours.
  •    Brazilians fully immunized with vaccines approved by the European Medicines Agency must provide a digital COVID certificate, available for foreigners vaccinated with a vaccine approved by the European Medicines Agency. European Medicines Agency (EMA).
  •    Brazilians vaccinated with Coronavac traveling before 01.12.2021: Nothing changes. They are still welcome in Switzerland, but will need to present a valid COVID certificate – acquired through negative PCR test issued in less than 72 hours or antigen in less than 48 hours.
  •     Brazilians vaccinated with Coronavac traveling from 01.12.2021: You can request the COVID certificate, but it will be valid for 30 days of stay in Switzerland, from the thirty-first day, testing will be required to acquire the certificate - negative PCR test issued in less than 72 hours or antigen in less than 48 hours.
