Docks this Monday afternoon (11), at the Port of Navegantes (SC), the ship with another shipment of F-39 Gripen fighters for the Brazilian Air Force (FAB). The Florijngracht has been anchored since yesterday at the entrance to the canal.
The Dutch cargo ship is expected to dock at berth 2 of the port terminal, expected to enter the channel at 16:00 p.m. The information is from the portal Aviation in Floripa. The ship's entry can be followed live by clicking here.
The vessel left Sweden around three weeks ago, bringing two more planes to the FAB, registrations 4107 and 4108. There is, however, the possibility that the ship is carrying only one Gripen, according to the website Air Power, breaking the pattern of the last three trips.
In any case, the operation follows the same pattern as in other transfers. The fighter jets will be unloaded at the port and towed through the streets of Navegantes to Victor Konder International Airport, at night. At the airport, the jets receive ejection seats and undergo tests before taking off to Anápolis Air Base.
The FAB acquired 36 Gripen fighters, 28 single-seaters and eight two-seaters, and is negotiating with Sweden for a further 15 F-39s.
