The Smoke Squadron Brazilian Air Force (FAB) has two performances scheduled in São Paulo for this weekend. The team will carry out demonstrations in São José dos Campos, on Saturday (29) and Campinas on Sunday (30).
After performing in Saquarema (RJ) last Sunday and flying for the first time in Santa Fé do Sul (SP) at the beginning of the week, the Air Demonstration Squadron (EDA) participates in two events, also in the state of São Paulo.
On Saturday, the seven Embraer A-29 Super Tucano perform their maneuvers at the Department of Aeronautics Science and Technology (DCTA) event, in São José dos Campos. This year's edition celebrates the 120th birthday of Air Marshal Casimiro Montenegro Filho. The soldier is patron of the DCTA and the Institute of Aeronautical Technology, important research institutions in Brazil.
According to calendar of the Fumaça Squadron, the presentation takes place at 15pm No. Mirante Deck, Avenida Anchieta, central region of the city.
The following day, Sunday, EDA will be present at the celebrations of 250 years of Campinas. Although the city's birthday is only celebrated on July 14, the celebrations began on November 7 last year, when the countdown began.
The demonstration is scheduled on time to 10:10 am, na Heralds of Peace Square, Vila Nogueira neighborhood.
Headquartered at the Air Force Academy, in Pirassununga (SP), the Esquadrilha da Fumaça is the main representative of the FAB at public events in Brazil and around the world. Formed in 1952, the team is one of the oldest air demonstration squadrons in the world still active. As of 2023, the squadron has completed 4000 demonstrations.
EDA uses A-29 Super Tucano aircraft in its demonstrations. Manufactured by Embraer, the Squadrilha's Super Tucanos have colors that represent the national flag, also present in the planes' paintwork, on the tail. Throughout its 70-year history, completed in May 2022, the team has operated the North American T-6 Texan, Fouga T-24 (CM-170) Magister, Neiva T-25 Universal and Embraer T-27 Tucano aircraft.
