Socicam, the company responsible for managing 117 projects in all regions of the country, with a monthly movement of more than 130 million engers. When it comes to airports, it is the largest privately operated company in Brazil, with 24 businesses in its portfolio, which routinely receive a large number of aviation enthusiasts.
Aware of the presence of this audience, the company developed a series of actions that bring communities and airports closer together. In general, the airside of any aerodrome – the entire area intended for the movement of aircraft and which can only be accessed by crew , engers with a valid boarding ticket and local workers – is a controlled space that follows a series of security issues. The land side is the public part of the airport, such as the parking lots and the enger terminal. And it is on the air side that an integration action organized by the enterprise for its visitors takes place: Spotter Day, a day in which people can access the controlled area and take photos of aircraft up close – following specific safety procedures.
On August 4, Sociam held its first Spotter Day at Chapecó Airport, in Santa Catarina. The terminal, which was expanded and completely modernized, welcomed more than 15 aircraft lovers, who were able to take photos and learn details of the operation. And the company already has plans for events at Caldas Novas (GO) airports, on September 17; Zona da Mata (MG), on September 29; and Vitória da Conquista (BA), October 27th, who are preparing their teams for the first Spotter Days, offering more options for aviation lovers to enjoy their hobbies.
In addition to Spotter Day, Socicam has consistent work on socio-environmental actions that involve the entire surrounding community. “We recognize the importance of bringing the community close to airports. Our purpose is to improve people's lives through mobility, but by managing such important equipment for the city, we can help society through events and actions that positively impact people”, explains Marcelo Bisordi, Director of Airports at Socicam . “The first Spotter Day at Chapecó Airport, after the modernization of the site, is a milestone in the terminal's operation and a special day for spotters who have been waiting for this opportunity. We want to strengthen our ties with the community, considering that our activities are entirely focused on them”, he points out.
