The Sorocaba State Airport, Bertram Luiz Leupolz (SDCO / SOD) will start instrument operation next month. The new IAC approach charts (Instrument Approach Chart) for headwaters 01 and 19 are circulating on social networks.
The letters are part of a series of measures taken after the start of management of 11 airports in the state of São Paulo by the private sector, including Sorocaba. The manager's idea is to allow the internationalization of the field in the future, in addition to bringing greater flexibility and operational competitiveness to operators and s, who for years had been waiting for the availability of IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) operation at the São Paulo airport, which has stood out as an important hangar center, instruction and maintenance of small and medium-sized aircraft.

The RNP Z chart for category A, B and C aircraft describes the arrival procedure for runway 01, ideal for those arriving further south of the city. Highlight for the two IAFs (Initial Approach Fix) PCO03 and 04 with altitudes of 5100 feet and the IF (Intermediate Fix) PCO02 at a comfortable 4100 feet 8 miles away from the threshold, with a DA (Decision Altitude) of 3083 feet or MDA 3090 feet, if the landing is based on LNAV.. This distance allows for a smoother, almost continuous descent, ideal for aircraft in faster categories, such as Bravo and Charlie.

The approach for the procedure will be to the left of the field, moving the aircraft away from a more voluminous region of traffic arriving and leaving Viracopos and Jundiaí.
For those arriving from the north, the Yankee procedure for runway 19 establishes that the aircraft block the IAF PCO09 or PCO10 at 5000 feet and 4500 feet respectively, ing the FAF (Final Approach Fix) at 3360 feet. On this side of the field the descent can occur a little lower than the previous one, with the DA (LNAV/VNAV) and MDA (LNAV) at 3031 and 3040 feet. A little high, it's true, but it's already a step forward.

Although such documents are circulating among pilots and aviation operators, it is important to emphasize that both are not yet valid. O DECEA (Department of Airspace Control) cites May 18, 2023 as the effective date, and may even make changes up to the date at the bottom of the same. The possible instrument exit procedures (SID) have not yet been made available.
