Concept of the new Air Force One supersonic by Exosonic.
Exosonic, an aeronautics startup from California, has revealed images of its supersonic plane project that could become the new Air Force One. The 31-enger VIP jet is being developed based on the concept of another aircraft of the company, with capacity for 70 engers.

According to CNN Travel, Exosonic was hired by the Presidential and Executive Air Transport Directorate of the USAF (US Air Force) after impressing the military with the project of the supersonic twin engine capable of reaching Mach 1.8. The company hopes to have the aircraft flying by the mid-2030s.
The aircraft's function may vary according to needs. The aircraft can be used as Air Force Two, a jet dedicated to transporting the US Vice President.
Stephanie Chahan, lead aircraft interior designer at Exosonic, explained to the broadcaster that "With this concept, we are planning to implement new technologies that are not available today or that you don't (yet) see in commercial or business aircraft."

The aircraft will have two private suites. The first is a three-enger meeting room with secure videoconferencing so s can work, go online or talk to the press.
The swivel seats are leather with wooden shells and the video monitor can be stored away so there is room on the sideboard for plates of food or presentation equipment.
The second eight-enger suite has straight seats and adjustable table height and is where senior staff can work collaboratively and rest. Then there is a cabin with 20 executive seats, plus two galleys, two lavatories and plenty of storage.

Following the trend of modern aircraft design, the seat backs have spaces to accommodate personal electronic devices, rather than traditional backrest monitors.
“The cabin design was inspired by the executive branch of the United States and its mission and values, as well as the peregrine falcon, known for its speed – both for its movement and its beautiful look”, says Chahan.
One of the biggest highlights of the Exosonic concept is the promise of silence. Through its design, the aircraft reduces the sonic boom – an explosion effect that occurs when an aircraft breaks the sound barrier – being able to fly over cities and other inhabited areas without causing inconvenience.
The sonic boom was one of the Concorde's biggest problems, the source of constant complaints from residents annoyed by the plane's noise.

“The future for fast global enger travel is low-noise supersonic flight,” said Exosonic CEO Norris Tie. “The low noise allows travelers to fly at supersonic speeds without generating a boom that is disturbing to those on the ground.”
The startup projects that the plane has a range of 5 nautical miles (9260 km).
The USAF is also investing in Hermeus Corporation, an Atlanta-based company working on a 20-enger hypersonic aircraft capable of flying between London and New York in just 90 minutes. The company successfully tested a hypersonic engine in February of that year. Interior of the Air Force An Exosonic supersonic. Image via CNN Travel.
