The Fundação Astronauta Marcos Pontes (AstroPontes) promotes on the 10th and 11th of June, the traditional Air Arraia – Inspiring Generations, which this year, reaches its 8th edition, at the Comandante João Ribeiro de Barros Municipal Airfield (SBBU), the Aeroclube.
The event, which is one of the largest in Brazil, will feature air shows, exhibitions with various activities related to aviation, education, science and technology, the presence of Astronaut Marcos Pontes himself and the Festa Junina, with traditional stalls selling typical foods. , games and cultural artistic attractions. The full schedule is yet to be announced.
At each edition, Arraiá Aéreo has broken attendance records, reaching more than 100 people. For the president of AstroPontes, Edson Mitsuya, the expectation for this year is even greater.
“It is a traditional event. The whole region is anxious and we are committed and preparing Arraiá Aéreo with great care, with all the care and with an infrastructure that can provide comfort for the families and visitors who will be here”, .
Entrance to Arraiá Aéreo 2023 is voluntary, with the donation of 1 kg of non-perishable food, 1 kg of pet food or a donation of R$10,00. Around 45 philanthropic institutions will benefit from the donations collected. Last year alone, 48 tons of food were donated.

One of the attractions most awaited by the public is the Esquadrilha da Fumaça, which confirmed its participation this year. On May 16, Bauru received the pioneering visit of the A-29 Super Tucano aircraft, from the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), which is part of the Esquadrilha. The aircraft had Captain João Neves as a pilot during the technical visit. During the visit, air and aerodrome safety conditions were evaluated, a recurrent FAB protocol.
About the Squadron
The Esquadrilha da Fumaça has more than 4 thousand demonstrations carried out in Brazil and in 21 countries. Every presentation has seven pilots in seven aircraft. An eighth pilot is on the ground performing the voice-over. Generally, the demo lasts 35 minutes and has about 50 stunts.
