The Su-75 Checkmate was presented at MAKS 2021 in July. It is a light stealth fighter project, aimed at export. According to Dmitry Shugayev of Russia's Military-Technical Cooperation Service, the Su-75 must compete in the market with the Saab Gripen, Dassault Rafale and the F-35. Vietnam, India, Argentina and the United Arab Emirates are already considered as potential customers.

“The Checkmate was developed based on the scientific and technical work obtained during the creation of the export version of the Su-57E. In particular, the aircraft inherited the cabin, onboard systems and some other elements. This reduces the cost of the aircraft and simplifies its maintenance.“, said Rostec Aviation Group spokesman.

In addition to the Su-75, Russia also offers an export version of the well-known Su-57, called the Su-57E. During MAKS, the CEO of state-owned exporter Rosoboronexport said that Moscow is in talks with five countries that have shown interest in the Su-57.

While the Su-75 Checkmate is designated a light fighter, the Su-57, called the Felon by NATO, is a heavy fighter. Russia also points out that the Su-57 is the only heavy stealth aircraft available for export in the world.

However, few units are in service. The Su-57 must still receive its definitive engine, the Izdeliye 30, as the current AL-41F1 is not strong enough for the fighter.
