The modifications present in the RA-89135 aircraft, specifically in the winglets, allow a 4% reduction in fuel consumption.

The winglets are built with composite materials, and compatible with the aircraft that are already operating, the new aircraft will receive the new factory winglet from mid-2020.

“In addition to lower fuel burn, the installation of winglets will improve takeoff and landing performance”, adds Deputy Director General of Aircraft Development Andrei Nedosekin.

Severstal originally took delivery of the aircraft in June, but it was placed in storage to await a winglet change.
