The company noted that its financial result in the second quarter was greatly affected by problems with the Sukhoi SSJ100, with a 21% increase in operating expenses compared to the same period of the previous year. The company spent US$ 35,5 million on maintenance alone in the second quarter.

The company even faced a forced stockpiling of aircraft, which could not fly due to unresolved mechanical problems, due to the lack of spare parts. In this condition, the company cannibalized four aircraft, with the purpose of removing parts to keep the other aircraft in service.

Logically, without its complete fleet, the company had to cancel flights and use more other aircraft, increasing the overall cost of operation.

The company hopes to reverse this case when Sukhoi normalizes its parts supply line, putting the four aircraft that are stopped to fly again. In all, the company operates with 22 aircraft of the SSJ100 model, which carries 93 engers in the Interjet configuration, there is still an order for another 18 aircraft of this model.

Despite the 9,6% increase in company revenue, Interjet recorded a loss in the second quarter, due to higher maintenance costs and higher fuel prices.
