Swissport started a process of replacing the old equipment adapted for towing luggage carts and also renewing the fleet of tractors for moving aircraft with equipment specially developed and with new technologies for this purpose.

The 10 new tractors are already in operation at Congonhas Airport, in São Paulo, two new tractors for moving aircraft and eight tractors for towing luggage and cargo. Another five of each model should arrive in the coming weeks.

The new tractors are manufactured by TLD and make the operation much safer, with comfort for the driver, greater load capacity, agility, performance and safety.

“Among the main differentials of the new JST-20 and TMX150 tractors are the four-wheel brake systems, greater luggage handling capacity, redundant aircraft approach safety systems and equipment handling”, said Sidnei Vieira, terminal manager at Swissport.

Other advantages are the automatic transmission, external buttons to move in short spaces, and the engine, which works with electronic diesel injection and works with ARLA (automotive nitrogen oxide liquid reducing agent), which reduces the emission of pollutants.

Recently, Swissport also put into operation 12 new mobile loading mats in Congonhas, with the same safety and ergonomic standards as the new tractors.

The new mats are also manufactured by TLD and are used for placing luggage in the hold of aircraft. All new equipment, tractors and mats, are part of a broader Swissport fleet renewal process across the country.
