A Emirates and TAP Air Portugal signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand the codeshare partnership currently in place between the two airlines.
The new agreement will see customers of both airlines benefit from connectivity on many new routes across the Americas, North Africa and East Asia.
Emirates and TAP Air Portugal will also explore ways to enhance cooperation in their respective frequent flyer programs, including opportunities for reciprocal mileage earning and redemption, as well as other benefits such as access to VIP lounges.
In addition, both airlines plan to each other's stopover programs in Dubai and Lisbon, with Emirates also assisting TAP Air Portugal as it looks at expansion opportunities in the UAE.
Subject to required regulatory approvals, the new agreement is expected to take effect from May 01, 2021 and will provide customers with booking, ticketing and travel benefits at 70 destinations across both airlines' networks.
As part of the expanded partnership, TAP Air Portugal will place its code on Emirates flights to popular East Asian destinations such as Taipei, Tokyo, Osaka, Mumbai, Delhi, Dhaka, Male, Jakarta, Denpasar, Manila, Hanoi. Connectivity is also expanded on Emirate flights to Barcelona and Mexico City.
Emirates customers will be able to access additional domestic destinations in Portugal, as well as TAP Air Portugal flights to cities in the US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Senegal, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea-Conakry, Morocco, Tunisia, Gambia and Cape Verde.
