TCU approves Brazilian Navy contract to buy four corvettes

Evaluated at between US$ 1,6 billion and US$ 2 billion, the Brazilian Navy obtained approval from the TCU (Union Court of Auditors) for the purchase of four missile-launching corvettes, which will be produced based on international and Brazilian technology.

The corvettes will be assembled by the Águas Azuis consortium, formed by the companies Thyssen, from , and Embraer, from Brazil.

Construction will take place at the Oceana shipyard, in Santa Catarina, with deliveries starting in 2025 (probably). Embraer claims that the construction of the Corvettes s around 2 direct jobs.

MB expects to sign the contract with the Consortium in 2020.
